December Accountability Update and 2015 Wrap-Up

It’s time for my final accountability update for 2015.   As long-time readers know, these monthly reports are where I share what came into and left my closet during the previous month, what I wore, and how I did with my shopping budget.  Sharing what I bought, what I culled, and how much I spent helps me to stay honest and on track with my wardrobe and shopping.  This update will also include a year-end wrap-up in terms of my budget and in and out item totals.  Other statistics – including wardrobe “all-stars” and “benchwarmers” – will be covered in future posts.

What Left My Wardrobe

I always start these reports with what left my closet during the previous month.  During December, I purged six items from my wardrobe, two of which were returned to the store of origin and the other four were slated for donation or consignment:

  • 3 knit blazers – black, green, grey (slated for donation or consignment)
  • Navy striped open cardigan (returned to store)
  • Magenta tunic (returned to store)
  • Teal crew-neck tee (slated for donation or consignment)

November 2015 Accountability Update

Just like with last month, I’m getting this accountability update up a little late.  I actually considered combining my November and December updates since I don’t have a whole lot to share this month.  However, I ultimately opted to write this post now and I will do a big year-end wrap-up (like this one I did last year) in a few weeks.

For those who are new to the blog, these monthly reports are where I share what came into and left my closet and how I did with my shopping budget.   Sharing what I bought, what I culled, and how much I spent helps me to stay honest and on track with my wardrobe and shopping.  It also contributes toward my being more deliberate, which is my theme for 2015.

October 2015 Accountability Update

Well, it’s more than halfway through November, so this post is a bit overdue…  However, I wasn’t putting off writing it because of overshopping like last time. I have just been dealing with other things, so some of these more time-consuming posts had to be postponed somewhat.  But better late than never!

January through June 2015 Purchase Analysis

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that I’m big on tracking, numbers, and statistics related to my wardrobe and shopping (see how I do my tracking here).  I think that tracking can be highly beneficial for recovering shopaholics, as well as anyone who wants to shop smarter and better utilize the wardrobe pieces they own.   I’ve been tracking how much I spend, what I wear, and how often I wear it since the beginning of 2011, and last year I added photos and an outfit journal to the mix.  Using these types of analysis can help us make fewer buying mistakes over time.

Shopping and wardrobe statistics

It can be helpful to periodically review and analyze our purchases.

Another thing that I find helpful is to review my purchases and see how they have worked out for me. In today’s post, I’m going to look at the items I brought into my closet from January through June of this year and see whether my new items have become wardrobe workhorses or closet benchwarmers.

It’s a bit too early to look at the pieces I purchased during July through October, as I don’t yet know whether those buys were smart or ill-advised. For one reason, many of those items are for fall (looking at you, Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases), and the cooler weather hasn’t even started yet where I live.   I will address what I’ve bought during the second half of the year in one of my end of the year wrap-up posts (check out what I called my best and worst purchases for 2014 – I don’t agree with all of those assessments now!).

August and September 2015 Accountability Update

This is the post I have been dreading writing, which is part of why I have put it off for so long.   As you will soon see, I shopped far too much during August and September – mostly during August – and bought a lot of new things, too many.   Fortunately, the dust settled from my shopping “binge” weeks ago, but I now have to re-live it all here in this post.  This isn’t an easy post for me to write, yet I have committed to being accountable here on the blog and I will honor that commitment.

For those who are new to the blog, these reports (which are usually done monthly) are where I share what came into and left my closet and how I did with my shopping budget.   Sharing what I bought, what I culled, and how much I spent helps me to stay honest and on track with my wardrobe and shopping.  It also contributes toward my being more deliberate, which is my theme for 2015.

Telling the Truth

It’s time to tell the truth about my August and September shopping…
