June 2015 “Grab Bag” of Useful Links

It’s the last day of June (how did that happen so quickly?), so it’s time for me to share my latest “grab bag” of useful links (see previous editions here).   Included below are links to articles I think you’ll enjoy on the subjects of shopping and shopping psychology, wardrobe management, style, and personal development.  I’m also sharing a few previous “Recovering Shopaholic” posts that you may have missed the first time around (or may choose to revisit now).

Fletcher Cove, Solana Beach, CA

A sunny June day at the beautiful Fletcher Cove beach in Solana Beach, California.

As with last month’s useful links edition, the photo above is one of mine.  I previously used stock images for these posts, but I will now include my own photos in these useful links round-ups, as well as in select other articles.  I will also periodically feature some of my photos in standard posts, including this one and this one.   I’ve been taking photos at least two or three times per week, so I have lots to choose from!   I still plan to get into the routine of sharing photos on Instagram and I’m posting about that here to light a proverbial fire under my backside.  If you want to see my photos there, you can follow me at debbie_roes (some cat photos and a few other random images are posted already).

May 2015 “Grab Bag” of Useful Links

May is almost over, so it’s time for me to share my latest “grab bag” of useful links (see previous editions here).   Included below are links to articles I think you’ll enjoy on the subjects of shopping and shopping psychology, wardrobe management, style, and personal development.  I’m also sharing a few early “Recovering Shopaholic” posts that you may have missed the first time around (or may choose to revisit now).

Twilight on a cloudy night on Shelter Island – May 27, 2015

Yes, the photo above is one of mine (but it wasn’t taken with my cell phone this time).  I previously used stock images for these posts, but I will now include my own photos in these useful links round-ups, as well as in select other articles.  I will also periodically feature some of my photos in stand-alone posts, the next of which (see the first one here) will be published very soon.   Lots of beach and bay images to choose from, so we’ll see what I end up sharing…

April 2015 “Grab Bag” of Useful Links

It’s the last day – and the last post – of the month, so it’s time for me to share my latest “grab bag” of useful links (see previous editions here).   But before I do, I want to thank everyone who gave me such kind feedback on my last few posts related to the subject of hobbies.  I loved all of the wonderful suggestions I received for new interests, as well as the compassion you extended to me regarding my challenges of late.

In addition, I was very pleased that so many of you liked the photographs I shared in my last post.  It meant a lot to me that some of you complimented my eye for composition.  I feel like I’m on the right track with my new hobby and I’m sure my photos will only improve with time.  A few of you mentioned that you’d like me to share more of my photos in future posts, so I plan to do that periodically.   In fact, I took the photo below just yesterday at the La Jolla Cove!  It was a beautiful day here in San Diego, so it was nice to spend a bit of time at the beach capturing the landscape for my sick friend and all of you.

March 2015 “Grab Bag” of Useful Links

It’s the last day – and the last post – of the month, so it’s time for me to share my latest “grab bag” of useful links.   But before I do, I want to thank everyone who has shared their feedback on where to find quality clothing in response to my last post.   As I mentioned in that post, I will be adding all of the reader input to mine and creating a permanent resource page on the website.  I will share that link once it’s available.

If you haven’t had a chance to chime in about your quality clothing (and accessories) sources, you still can do so up until Friday, April 10th.  I wish I could leave comments open indefinitely on the blog, but the spammers had to go and ruin our fun such that I must close the loop after two weeks.   However, you can always submit feedback to me via the Connect Page.

Where to Find Quality Clothing

Many of us are looking to shop less often and place shopping into the proper perspective in our lives. At the same time, we’re also aiming to find quality items that will stand the test of time.   In the comments section of one of my previous posts, some readers shared resources for where they find quality clothing and asked me to share my insights on the topic.   I thought that would be a great topic for a post.  As I’ve often said, I get some of my best post ideas from readers!

focus on quality

In today’s post, I list some of my favorite locations for finding quality clothing, as well as some additional resources provided by readers.   You may also wish to check out the guest post written by frequent commenter Dottie last year, “How to Tell if a Garment is Well-Made.”  This article provides a wealth of information to help you determine if clothing pieces will last before you buy them, so I encourage you to check it out if you haven’t already seen it.
