Compulsive Shopping Audio Resources

In today’s post, I share some excellent audio resources on the topics of compulsive shopping, fashion ethics, and wardrobe minimalism.  Most of these resources can be easily downloaded and listened to while you are driving, exercising, or doing other activities.

Compulsive shopping audio resources

Podcasts and teleseminars can be fun and relaxing ways to learn!

I have listened to all of the recommended resources and found them interesting, informative, and enlightening.  I hope you will feel the same!

I’m Doing a Free Teleseminar with Dr. April Benson!

Before I share the recorded resources, I want to let you know about a free teleseminar that you can attend on Wednesday, August 14th at 9:00 pm Eastern time.   I will be giving this teleseminar with Dr. April Benson, psychotherapist and author of “To Buy or Not to Buy: Why We Overshop and How to Stop.”

Our 60-minute teleseminar will focus on surviving the August shopping push:  end-of-summer sales, back-to-school deals, and the pull of the new fall fashions. The key points Dr. Benson and I will be discussing include:

  • The 3 most common mistakes people make with this seasonal pressure.
  • Why buying for a year from now seems to make sense, but it’s actually utter nonsense.
  • Why you are called to shop at this time of year, even if you’ve been out of school for decades.
  • How to meet the longing for new fall clothes in an entirely different way.
  • The best tools, tips and strategies for surviving the August pull.

To learn more about the call and register, please click on the link below:

NOTE:   There are a limited number of lines available for the call.  If you register for the call but are unable to attend, you will be given access to a recording of the call later in the week.

  1. I signed up for Wednesday. I am looking forward to it!

  2. Thank you Debbie for all the resources you have provided for our benefit.
I am particularly interested to listen to Nos 3 and 4 as they are my main concerns. My wardrobe problem is not that I am a shopaholic. I like shopping but can come home empty handed. Rather it is that I have been the same size all my life and have not strictly followed the “one in – one out” rule so have accumulated too many clothes. With your help I’ve been trying to cull more and keep “quality over quantity” as my mantra.
While I am interested in your teleseminar, the Wednesday evening timeslot is actually Thursday morning here in Sydney and I will be at my French class so am unable to attend.
As always I look forward to your posts and the wonderful information they contain.

    • Debbie Roes says:

I know the time difference can be rough for people outside of the U.S., Megan. I will be writing a future blog post (maybe more than one) on what we discuss on the call, so you’ll still be able to get some of the information. I think you’ll like resources #3 and #4. Let me know what you think if you listen!

      • Hi Debbie, I’m also not in the US and would really appreciate a summary in a future post. I really struggle with sales and new seasons and it sounds like you will discuss things that would be really helpful!

  3. Dr. Benson is the best on this topic! I love any chance I get to talk about this with her. Sounds like a fantastic event!!

    • Debbie Roes says:

Thanks, Bridgette! I loved the show you did with Dr. Benson – and I love your blog!

For those who aren’t familiar with Bridgette and her blog, I recommend you check it out: Today’s post about fit and foundation garments is one of her best yet!

  4. FrugalFashionista says:

Would love to join but it’s at 4am… Best of luck anyway and looking forward to the recap!

    • Debbie Roes says:

I know… I wish you and others abroad could participate. Sorry not everyone can join in, but I will post the recap on Friday and I welcome any questions anyone has!
